Man in Stolen Truck Leads Police on Highway Chase, Manhunt in West Peabody
State and local police were searching for a male Tuesday afternoon who led them on a chase down Route 1 in a stolen pickup truck and then bailed on foot in West Peabody.

A man driving a stolen pickup truck led police on a chase down Route 1 and into a residential neighborhood in West Peabody this afternoon, drawing a large police presence to the area.
A manhunt that lasted about an hour was finally called off around 1:30 p.m., according to reports.
The chase, led by state police troopers, was first reported around noon on the southbound side of the highway in Danvers near Centre Street.

The vehicle, a blue 2006 Ford 150, continued into Peabody and left the highway onto Winona Street.
Troopers and K9 units, assisted by Peabody and Lynnfield officers, began a manhunt in the area after the vehicle was found empty on Cardigan Road. A state police helicopter also joined the search.

According to reports, units searched along Cardigan Road, Winona Street, Lake Street and the surrounding area, including nearby businesses on along Route 1 South, for the suspect to no avail.
The suspect was described as a white male wearing a red baseball cap and a gray hooded sweatshirt. Police said the vehicle was reported stolen out of Rowley.
