Medical Imaging Company Sold to Samsung

A medical imaging company in Danvers Industrial Park has been sold to Samsung, the Boston Herald reports.

NeuroLogica, at 14 Electronics Ave., has been sold to Samsung Electronics America Inc., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co. for an undisclosed price, the Herald reports.

The company makes portable CT scanners with names such as BodyTom and CereTom.

Tod Pike, senior vice president at Samsung’s Enterprise Business Division, told the Boston-based tabloid that the purchase is part of Samsung's effort to expand its medical imaging business. The company also told the paper that it hopes to leverage its "global brand awareness" in consumer electronics to expand its medical imaging business.

NeuroLogica was founded in 2004 by Bernard Gordon, who in 2011 was honored by the North Shore Chamber of Commerce with the Distinguished Leadership Award. The award recognized local business leaders that "have made a difference in the region's business community."

Before founding NeuroLogica, Gordon founded Analogic Corp. in Peabody - first as Gordon Engineering.

He has also donated millions to Northeastern University and the Boston Museum of Science to promote science education and to Lahey Clinic, Salem State University and other organizations.
