Motel Evacuated After Reports of a Suspicious Device at the Comfort Inn

Danvers Police investigated a suspicious item at the Comfort Inn North Shore, 50 Dayton St., on Tuesday morning with the assistance of the State Police, according to authorities.

The item was cleared as benign. according to Danvers Police sgt. Olivia Silva.

Authorities converged just after 10 Tuesday morning on an area near the Comfort Inn. The motel is located just off Route 1. police evacuated the Comfort Inn, and guests waited at the nearby Calitri’s restaurant on Route 1. The Danvers Armory is located in the area at 2 Armory Road.

Danvers Fire Department and several ambulances were also n scene.

Authorities began clearing the area around noon.
