North Shore Job Fair for Teachers This Wednesday
Danvers is hosting the second annual North Shore Teacher Recruitment Fair April 27 at the Holten-Richmond Middle School from 4-7 p.m.

Danvers will be hosting a regional teacher job fair at the on Wednesday, April 27 from 4-7 p.m. If you’re interested in attending as an employee candidate, bring a cover letter, resume, proof of Massachusetts Certification and three current letters of reference with you.
The regional event kicked off last year at Collins Middle School in Salem, as a number of area school districts joined forces to hold the first ever North Shore teacher recruitment fair. The job fair, in the same vein as many others like it, is geared to some specific employment needs among the participating districts.
Danvers Superintendent of Schools Lisa Dana said she hopes the fair will attract strong candidates for anticipated or immediate vacancies due to retirements or leaves of absence. In particular, Danvers’ main hiring need is in the area of special education, at both the high school and middle school levels, Dana said. There is also an opening for a preschool teacher and a high school biology teacher, due to retirement.

A benefit of the job fair atmosphere, as opposed to the traditional method of advertising openings and wading through responses, is the initial interview on-site to better gauge who might be a good fit for any given job, said Dana. She said it does save some time in the process, and it’s cheaper than taking out an ad.
Dana said the job fair helped the district meet its needs last year and drew in about 300 applicants.
