Obituary: Bernard P. Littlefield, Worked in the Newspaper Business For Over 40 Years
Active in coaching and officiating in youth sports for over 30 years. He coached many championship baseball and basketball teams.

Bernard P. Littlefield, 83, passed away on May 26, 2015 in Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth (Adams) Littlefield, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Somersworth, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Orin and Grace Littlefield. He was raised and educated in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, graduating from Portsmouth High School in 1950. He attended the University of New Hampshire and later went to work at the Portsmouth Herald as a Circulation District Manager. Bernie left the Herald in 1961 to assume the position of Circulation Manager of the Fitchburg Sentinel in Massachusetts. In 1967 he accepted the Circulation Director position at the Salem Evening News in Massachusetts, which he held for 29 years, retiring in 1995. During his 44 years in the newspaper business, he received many circulation awards, including the New England Circulation Executive of the Year Award in 1982.

Bernie was active in coaching and officiating in youth sports for over 30 years, he coached many championship teams in baseball and basketball and enjoyed working with young people.
Besides is his wife Ruth, he is survived by four sons, Kevin and his wife Cindy of Beverly, Kyle and his wife Milissa of Danvers, Mark and his wife Angela of Nashua, NH and Jesse of Boston, six grandchildren, Zachary and Kristina, Michael and Alec and Bella and Finn. He was predeceased by his daughter, Vicki Littlefield.

All other funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Bernie’s name to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923.
