Obituary: Doris T. (Osgood) Mackenzie, Nurse, Longtime Resident of Danvers

Nurse for many years at Beverly Hospital and was also associated with the Visiting Nurses Association.

Doris Thelma (Osgood) Mackenzie, 97 of Danvers, beloved wife of the late Arthur Woodbury Mackenzie, died Monday, February, 23rd, 2015 at the Hunt Nursing Home in Danvers.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late George and Sarah E. (Brown) Osgood. She was raised and educated in Marblehead and moved to Danvers at the age of 12 and was a graduate of the former Holten High School, class of 1935 of Danvers. She received her nursing degree from the Beverly Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Mackenzie had been employed as a Nurse for many years at Beverly Hospital and was also associated with the Visiting Nurses Association and for a short time she was associated with the Industrial Nurses at GTE Sylvania.

A longtime resident of the Town of Danvers, Doris was a long time member of the Maple Street Congregational Church in Danvers. She was active in church circles and volunteered her time as a member of the Maple Eves. She enjoyed spending her time with her family and will be deeply missed.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Donna Mae (Hudson) Mackenzie of Danvers, her grandchildren, Heidi Hudson Langlais and her husband Kevin of Epping, N.H. and Tamee Hudson Akstin and her husband Jeff of Haverhill, her great grandchildren, Mackenzie Hudson Langlais, Aimee Grase Akstin and Chase Hudson Akstin, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was the sister of the late Marilyn J. Moore.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Thursday, Feb. 26th at 11:30 A.M.. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:30 A.M.. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Doris’ memory to the Spectrum Adult Daycare, 600 Cummings Center, #176X, Beverly, MA 01915.
