Obituary: Louis Arvanites Jr., Founder and Managing Director of Executive Group of Danvers

Served during World War II in the Pacific theatre and during the occupation of Japan

Louis Arvanites Jr. 89, of Danvers, formerly of Ipswich, beloved husband of Helen (Kokoreas) Arvanites, died Sunday, November 16th, 2014 at the New England Home for the Deaf in Danvers, surrounded by his family.

Born in Ipswich, he was the son of the late Elias and Irene (Veneri) Arvanites. He was raised and educated in Ipswich and was a graduate of Ipswich High School.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific theatre and during the occupation of Japan.

Mr. Arvanites had a lengthy career in business. He was the founder and Managing Director of the Executive Group of Danvers which specialized in Commercial Real Estate.

A longtime resident of Danvers, Lou was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He had a true love of the out of doors. He was an avid bird watcher and animal lover. He will be deeply missed.

In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, Louis is survived by his daughter Nicki Lou McGrath and her husband Richard of Hoboken, New Jersey, his grandchildren, Sean McGrath of Seattle Washington and Matthew McGrath, US Navy Lt., of Yokuska, Japan, his sister, Vera Bombardiere of Maine and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Lou W. Arvanitesand brother of the late Anna Horseman, Doris Baer, James and GeorgeArvanites.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Wednesday, November 19th at 10 A.M. followed by his funeral service in the Assumption of Virgin Mary, Greek Orthodox Church, 8 Lafayette Rd, Ipswich, at 11 A.M.. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation prior to the funeral from 9 to 10 A.M..
