Opening Day for Danvers Little League was this past Saturday -- coaches and teams in both the American and National divisions (along with girls' softball) paraded through town on their way to their respective home fields.

Danvers native and Falcons boys' soccer coach Mike Chase also was given the distinction of throwing out the first pitch for the Danvers Americans at Plains Park.

Chase has become a local hero in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing when he, another Danvers local and many other bystanders rushed to the aid of those critically injured in the attack.
