School Threat On Snapchat Puts Danvers On Edge
Danvers High School officials said they are considering disciplinary action against the students involved in the incident.
DANVERS, MA — School and police officials said they investigated a Snapchat message that was sent to several Danvers High School students late Monday and early Tuesday morning warning them to be careful if they went to school on Tuesday. In a note to parents early Tuesday morning, Superintendent Lisa Dana said at no time was any student or staff member in danger and that the school system was considering disciplinary action against the students involved. "Student safety at DHS remains our top priority, and we appreciate that a number of individuals quickly shared their concern," Dana wrote.
Police ruled that the threat was not credible, but said they would step up their presence at the school for the remainder of the day.
On social media, parents discussed the message and many said they planned to keep their kids out of school on Tuesday. "My daughter is freaking out," one of them said. Others were concerned that Dana's note had been sent by email, but no call had been placed to parents with students at tyhe school.
