
There are several activities and events scheduled for Saturday and Sunday for the Danvers Family Festival. Check out what's planned below:
Saturday
The Danvers Garden Club Children's Concert is 10-11 a.m. in the garden outside the Children's Room at the library with entertainment for the whole family. The event is sponsored by Great Beginnings Learning School and organized by past presidents of the Danvers Garden Club. Call Anna Bertini at 978-774-5323. In the event of rain, the concert will be held inside the Children's Room.
The 11th Annual Scoop-Ahhh-Bowl at Endicott Park has been canceled in light of the rain forecast this weekend.

Endicott Park Day itself, however, is still on as planned, rain or shine. There are activities and events for people of all ages from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. The Parent/Child Cookie Baking contest will be in the Carriage House Conference Room and the entertainment will be in the Carriage House. All day rides are $5. Here's the schedule for the day:
- 8:30-10:30 a.m. Parent/child cookie entries delivered
- 8:30-10:30 a.m. Chili contest entries delivered
- 11 a.m. Cookie judging begins
- 11 a.m. Chili judging begins
- 11 a.m. Doll carriage and bicycle parade registration
- 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Rides, demonstrations, food by Boy Scout Troop 155, vendors
- 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Fun games by the Danvers Recreation Department
- 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Shiyanne’s Tea Party
- 11:30 a.m. Doll Carriage Parade
- 12 p.m. Bicycle Parade
- 1 p.m. Cookie Contest Winner announced
- 1:45-2:30 p.m. Super Cool Beans
- 2:30 p.m. Chili Contest Winner announced
The annual book sale held by the Friends of the Peabody Institute Library of Danvers continues this week and runs through July 6. There will be used books, videos, books on tape, CDs and more. Proceeds go toward the museum pass program, performances and other projects at the library.

Sunday
It's My Heart hosts a walk and family picnic Sunday at Endicott Park from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. The 3rd Annual Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Walk is a 1- or 2-mile or 5K walk around the park followed by an afternoon of fun activities for kids of all ages. Registration is 9-10 a.m., Heart Hero's Lap and group photo 10-10:15 a.m., the walk begins at 10:15 a.m., and the family picnic and fun day is from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The Strays in Need Dog Show is then at the Peabody Institute Library from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. The annual dog show is held on the lawn. All two-, three- and four-legged friends of animals are welcome to attend, as well as their owners. There will be games, raffles, a look-a-like contest and a fashion parade. Prizes will be awarded for several categories. All proceeds will benefit the animals helped by the local nonprofit organization.
