Student Representative Burrill Keeps Danvers In The Know

This year's Student Representative Elizabeth Burrill acts as a liaison between the School Committee and public schools.

This week's Whiz Kid, Elizabeth Burrill, is an exceptional young lady who was hand chosen by Principal Susan Ambrozavitch to act as the Student Representative this year.

To fulfill her responsibility, the Danvers High senior attends all of the school committee meetings armed with her list of newsworthy events happening in the public school system, for grades K-12.

Burrill is a solid student who has taken Honors and AP classes throughout her high school career. She is a member of the National Honor Society, and serves as an officer in the World Language Honor Society.

In her freshman and sophomore years she participated in Key Club, fulfilling her community service requirements, and she also plays the tenor saxaphone in the Danvers High School Marching Band.  In tenth grade Burrill traveled to California with the band to perform in the Rose Parade, and is currently on course to go to Hawaii in November to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Time management is important for the busy senior, who said her key to keeping herself on track is writing and planning her schedule.

"I've done a pretty good job scheduling my time, especially with band practice," she said. "I manage my time on the weekend and after school, making sure to leave myself time for homework. I plan out my week, each week, and write everything down: tests, school committee meetings and band practices."

Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Appointed Student Representative

Whiz Kid's Advise To Others: "It's important to be self motivated and responsible, especially when getting prepared for college.  It's better to learn in high scool to be independent.  Also, I would advise my peers to get involved in as many clubs and extra curricular activities as possible, and challenge yourself to take advanced/AP courses in school."
