Suspicious Substance Turns Out to be Corn Meal
Fire, police and public health were called to the scene after a report of a suspicious white powder along the Putnamville Reservoir.
Danvers public safety officials responded to the banks of the near 322 Locust St., at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning after two calls about white powder being discovered along the banks.

They called Health Director Peter Mirandi, who responded to the scene, as well as representatives of the Beverly Water Board. Meanwhile, Fire Chief Kevin Farrell requested the Massachusetts District 6 Hazardous Material Team to analyze the substance, said police.

The team processed the scene and determined that the suspicious material was not a hazard, but was, in fact, corn meal. Public safety cleared the scene at about 2:45 p.m.
