Town Officials Warn Residents to Beware of Water Line Insurance Solicitations
Danvers does not require residents to purchase water line coverage, according to town officials.

Danvers Department of Public Works is warning residents of recent solicitations for water line insurance. Solicitations by mail have been received by residents in Danvers from companies offering to sell water service line coverage.
The correspondence states that homeowners are financially responsible for the exterior water service line buried underground on their property.
The resident is instructed to purchase what amounts to an insurance policy that would provide coverage in the event that the water service line was to fail. While the maintenance of this line is the responsibility of the property owner, the Town of Danvers does not require residents to purchase this type of coverage, according to town officials.

Citizens are reminded that while the majority of businesses are trustworthy and dependable, there are still businesses that are deceptive and unethical. Homeowners should check with the Better Business Bureau and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, Consumer Complaint Division, before allowing any company to solicit your business.
