Troopers From Danvers Barracks Investigate Fatal Crash in Gloucester

The driver, and only occupant of the vehicle, was identified by state police as Corey J. McCollum, 42, of Gloucester.

The remaining facts and circumstances of a fatal crash on Saturday night in Gloucester are currently under investigation by troopers from the Danvers barracks.

Troopers from the State Police barracks in Danvers responded to reports of a rollover crash about 8:15 Saturday night on Route 128 Southbound, south of Exit 14 in Gloucester. Troopers discovered a 2005 Toyota Corolla had, for reasons still under investigation, struck the guardrail on the right side of the road, then crossed over to the left side of the roadway, again striking the guardrail, ejecting the operator.

The driver, and only occupant of the vehicle, was identified by state police as Corey J. McCollum, 42, of Gloucester. He was determined to be deceased at the scene as a result of injuries sustained from the crash.

All lanes of Route 128 Southbound were closed until approximately 11 Saturday night. Traffic was detoured at Exit 14 with the assistance of Gloucester Police Department and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
