Visiting Hours Set For Late Danvers Police Chief Pat Ambrose
Friends can pay respects at Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home Thursday night followed by a burial Friday morning at Wadsworth Cemetery.
DANVERS, MA — Friends and family of late Danvers Police Chief Pat Ambrose, who died unexpectedly on Saturday one week after his retirement, are invited to pay their respects Thursday night at Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home.
Chief Ambrose will be buried Friday morning at 11 at Wadsworth Cemetery.
A final procession through Danvers will be held prior to the graveside service for immediate family members.

"The Ambrose Family and the Danvers Police Department would like to express our extreme gratitude to the citizens and the businesses of the town of Danvers for the outpouring of support for retired Chief Ambrose, his family and the police department during this difficult time," the department said on Wednesday.
A law enforcement ceremonial walk through will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home on Maple Street.

All attendees will be required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and are asked to have no physical contact with the family.
Poplar Street will be closed from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday between the funeral home and the Locus Street intersection. Additional road closures will be in place at the intersections of Maple Street and North Putnam Street, and Maple Street and Beaver Park between 2:45 and 3:15 p.m.

"Since Saturday night there has been a constant communication and a lot of processing going on," Danvers Town Manager Steve Bartha told Patch on Tuesday. "We have support in place for community members who need it. A lot of these people have known Pat for not only the 35 years he was in the department but much longer than that.
"It's been hard and it's going to be hard for a while."
