Weekend Arrests, 50 Dead Birds, Woman Tries to Swat Bug and Crashes Into Tree
The following information was provided by the Danvers Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are excerpts from reports in the Danvers Police Department press log from June 28 - July 1.
Friday, June 28
- 7:01 p.m. Report of a four-car accident with personal injuries on Route 128 North. State police handled the accident and no further details were available.
- 7:56 p.m. Report of a car break-in. Police said a parked car outside Buffalo Wild Wings was left unlocked and someone entered the vehicle and stole a laptop computer.
- 9:25 p.m. Report of a dispute between two employees at Brutole Restaurant. Police said there was an allegation of a knife involved in an altercation between the two males and the alleged instigator left the restaurant before officers arrived. Police subsequently obtained an arrest warrant for a 40-year-old Danvers man on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon. Police said the man had allegedly threatened the other worker with the knife.
Saturday, June 29
- 4:41 a.m. Timothy Bennett, 28, of 27 Oak St., Wakefield, was arrested at the Extended Stay Hotel on Route 1. Police said they went to the hotel to serve Bennett with two warrants, but he resisted arrest. Officers also found some prescription medication on him which he did not have prescriptions for. Bennett was charged on the two warrants, resisting arrest, one count of possession of a Class C drug and two counts of possession of a Class E drug.
- 5:26 a.m. Matthew Eithun, 34, of 4 Hathorne Crescent, Salem, was arrested, following a report of a fight at Days Inn. Police said there was a disturbance inside one of the motel rooms and Eithun was subsequently charged with domestic assault and battery.
- 4:34 p.m. Report of a motor vehicle accident with personal injuries on Endicott Street. Police said one vehicle was traveling westbound on the street when it was rear-ended by another car. One person was taken to Beverly Hospital and the driver at-fault was cited for failure to use care in stopping.
- 4:44 p.m. A caller reported there were 50 dead birds at Costco. The Animal Control Officer was notified.
- 6:28 p.m. Report of a larceny at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Police said some carpet cleaner and a power fan was stolen by a person who fled the area in a red pickup truck.
- 10:51 p.m. Report of fireworks on Locust Street.
Sunday, June 30
- 2 a.m. A caller at a Water Street apartment reported someone put hand cleaner into the gas tank of a car. Police said hand cleaner was also poured over the trunk of the car.
- 3:39 a.m. Jessie Williams, 28, of 20 Blaine Ave., Beverly, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of Denny's. Officer Scott Frost was on patrol on Endicott Street when he was cut off by a car turning in front of his cruiser and into the parking lot at Denny's. Frost stopped the car and administered a field sobriety test, which Williams failed. Williams was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and not obeying a town ordinance -- there are signs at the intersection stating no left turn is allowed there into the restaurant.
- 2:39 p.m. Report of a motor vehicle accident with personal injuries. Police said a car was traveling northbound on Conant Street when the driver lost control as she tried to swat a bug and crashed into a telephone pole. An ambulance responded to the scene, but the driver wasn't taken to the hospital.
- 3:51 p.m. Report of a motor vehicle accident on Route 114 with personal injuries. No further details were available.
- 9:15 p.m. Report of a larceny at Panera Bread. No details were available.
Monday, July 1
- 6:44 a.m. Report of a car break-in on Morgan Drive. Police said the vehicle's passenger side window was smashed and a wallet was taken.
- 9:28 a.m. Report of a suspicious package in the road near Fire Headquarters. Police said it was just a trash bag.
- 11:33 a.m. Report of ducks down in a storm drain near Home Depot at the mall. No further details were available.
- 2:59 p.m. Report of a motor vehicle accident with personal injuries on Route 114. Police said two cars were traveling eastbound when the first vehicle stopped and the second car rear-ended it. The second driver was cited for tailgating and failure to have the car inspected. He was taken to Lahey Clinic because the air bag deployed.
- 3:12 p.m. A second motor vehicle accident was reported on Route 114. Police said one car rear-ended another and one driver was cited for failure to use care in stopping. No on was taken to the hospital.
- 4:23 p.m. Flooding was reported at the corner of Ash and Purchase streets.
