Which Roads Will Be Paved This Summer?

More than a dozen town streets are slated to be paved this summer and fall, with work kicking off next week.

“The work has already started with some prep work and will begin in earnest next week when we start the milling of the streets about to be paved,” said Robert E. Lee Jr., 's director of operations.

In addition to paving, the town will undertake the second phase of replacing the deteriorated sections of cement concrete sidewalks in Danvers Square.

All of the paving work will be paid by money from the state government through its Chapter 90 program.

The following streets are scheduled for paving in the next two months:

• Otis Street
• Pickering Street, include replacement of the retaining wall at the Hobart Street intersection
• Ferncroft Road
• East Coast Road (transfer station access road)
• Poplar Street (between Locust and Grove streets)
• Locust Street (between Maple and Poplar streets, including drainage improvements)
• Lindall Street (from Locust Street to the west end of Lindall)
• Fellows Street
• Weston Street
• Richards Street
• East Street
• Winthrop Street (including Winthrop Street Extension)
• Burley Avenue
• Chestnut Street (between Poplar and Columbia streets)
• Dyer Court
• Moulton Terrace

In addition, the town’s two parking lots in Danvers Square will be repaved and crack sealing will be conducted on about a dozen streets. The pavement management Article that was approved at Town Meeting is funding that work.

Lee said the town would also be working on the sidewalk on Florence Street as a joint project with the state Department of Transportation as part of the Route 128 project.
