2017 Flag Day Parade: What You Need To Know

The town's 50th celebration is set for this Saturday!

DEDHAM, MA — It's time to get your flag, get to Memorial Park, and enjoy some fireworks because the Dedham Flag Day Parade is almost here!

The town's 50th annual celebration will take place at 5 p.m. and will include the annual march across town, live music and activities at the park, and an evening fireworks display.

In the event of severe rain or thunderstorms, the parade will be held Sunday, June 18 at 5 p.m.

  • 5 p.m. - Parade
  • 7 p.m. - Live band, food, and drinks at Memorial Park
  • 9 p.m. - Fireworks


Parade Route

The parade will begin on East Street, turn left onto High Street (on the wrong side of the road) and proceed up to Dedham Square, turn right onto Washington Street down to Harris Street, right onto Harris Street to High Street, proceed down High Street to East Dedham Square, right in the square to Walnut Street, right onto Walnut Street to Oakdale Avenue, left onto Oakdale Avenue to Oakdale Square, up Sanderson Avenue to Mt. Vernon Street, right onto Mr. Vernon Street to Whiting Avenue, right onto Whiting Avenue past the High School to the Avery School access road, left on the access road to the Avery School and Dedham Pool parking lots where the parade will end.

The Celebration and Fireworks

The celebration will continue at Memorial Park beginning at 7 p.m. There will be a live band, food and drink. The fireworks display will begin promptly at 9 p.m. Recommended viewing areas for the fireworks are Memorial Park, Dedham Square and the Dedham Middle School.

Where to Park

Suggested parking areas include Dedham Square, Dedham High School, Dedham Middle School, Avery School, Dedham Pool, the Town lot on High Street (former St. Mary’s parking lot), and Town Hall.


Parking Restrictions

Temporary no parking signs will be placed on one side of the street at the following locations: Brookdale Avenue, Avery Street, Clark Street, Eleanor Street, Barrows Street, Cecil Place, Harvard Street, East Street (from High Street to Brookdale Avenue), Abbott Road, Van Brunt Avenue and Mt. Vernon Street (from High Street to Whiting Avenue).

Beginning at 8 p.m. and continuing until the conclusion of the fireworks display, Eastern Avenue from Providence Highway to East Street and East Street from High Street to Eastern Avenue will be closed.
