21-Year-Old Man Charged in Hit-and-Run Death of Dedham Woman

The Dedham Police Department has charged a 21-year-old Boston man in this weekend’s fatal hit-and-run killing of Jean Heppler.

Nicholas A. Rivas-Vasquez, age 21, of Washington Street in Boston, is charged with leaving the scene of a collision causing death. He is expected to be arraigned in Dedham District Court shortly.

The Hamden, CT native is reportedly in the Boston area as a student.

Dedham detectives, Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section of the Massachusetts State Police, and the Motor Vehicle Homicide Unit of the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office investigated the death.

The investigation is continuing.
