5 Things to Do This Weekend: May 11-13

Not sure what to do this weekend? Here's a roundup of area activities and events.

 

It's Thursday, and you've got no idea what you'll do for the weekend. Dedham Patch is coming to the rescue.

  1. Where/When: at 3 p.m. on Saturday
    Why go: Come support the Dedham School of Music by catching beautiful music performed by faculty at the school. It'd be a great concert to bring mom!
    Price: $10 suggested donation for scholarship fund

  • Where/When: at 10 a.m. on Saturday
    Why go: There will be plenty of games, crafts, face painting and food for the entire family. Support the Riverdale School and have a blast while doing it.
    Price: $20 

  • Where/When:  in Westwood from 7-11 a.m. on Saturday
    Why Go: Get out your best fishing gear and head over for the annual derby, which features both a youth and adult division. Prizes will be awarded in the youth division, and participants must bring their own poles. A prize will be awarded for the largest fish caught in the adult division, and adults must obey all Massachusetts Fish & Game regulations. 
    Price: $10 - Ages 16 & older; free - ages 15 & under

  • Where/When: at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday
    Why go: Celebrate Children's Book Week with the Blue Bunny in Dedham Square as they get a visit from world-famous author Tony Abbott, the author of more than 90 titles. Abbott's books take aim at early readers and young teens.
    Price: Free 

  • Sit and Knit
    Where/When: from 12-4 p.m. on Sunday
    Why go: Bring mom down for some tips on knitting from the local expert Eileen Kelly. All skill levels are welcomed, as you'll enjoy an afternoon of chatting and creating!
