Each year, The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) hold an awards ceremony, honoring the top National Spanish exam winners in the State.
This year at a special dinner in the Regis College rotunda, Ms. Annie Farry from the Dedham Middle School, was chosen to receive the 7th Annual Embassy of Spain Scholarship. In recognition of her skill, dedication, and competence, George Watson (Wheaton College and Roger Williams University) announced that Ms. Farry would receive a “Summer Study in Spain.”
SRA. Eva Maria Martin Gonzalez, education advisor for the Government of Spain, explained that “this prestigious award will provide a unique, enriching language and cultural experience for the beloved DMS teacher.” Ms. Farry will spend the month of July studying at the renowned University of Salamanca.

The AATSP works hand in hand with the Embassy of Spain, and thanked those responsible for supporting these educational programs, which support linguistic and cultural development and understanding.
The event this year was organized by Patricia Donahue McElhiney and Dr. Mary-Anne Vetterling of Regis College. Also participating in the awards, was Stephanie Cuddleback-Salim (Mattignon High School) and Joy Renjilian-Burgy (Wellesley College / AATSP President).

Ms. Farry`s fellow teachers and her language students at the Middle School, were thrilled for her achievement and all wish her the best.
