Amazon Announces Plans for Bookstore in Dedham
The online-retail giant is coming to Legacy Place.

DEDHAM, MA — Amazon, which is already the dominant player in online commerce, is now aiming to become a leader in something a little more low tech.
The retail giant plans on opening a bookstore at Legacy Place in Dedham and currently has 17 openings for a store at the Dedham shopping center, according to their jobs site.
In an email to the Boston Globe, spokeswoman Deborah Bass said “We are excited to be bringing Amazon Books to Legacy Place in 2017, and we are currently hiring store managers and associates. Stay tuned for additional details down the road.”

Amazon currently has bookstores in Seattle and San Diego. Additional stores in Portland, Ore. and Chicago are planned. They also have 20 pop-up retail sites, including one at the Natick Collection.
Amazon stores offer a mix of the old and new, selling books alongside Kindle e-readers, Fire tablets, and Echo smart-home devices.
