
During July of 2011, the received gift funding from the Law Offices of Stephen Rahavy and Owen Motors in the amount of $6,590.
This funding was provided to purchase a new speed display sign, a Shield 12 model, manufactured by All Traffic Solutions.
This model offers features beyond those that Dedham previously had associated with the speed trailers that have been utilized for many years.

This new display is portable and will not obstruct any roadways or sidewalks in any way. The display can be mounted almost anywhere.
The Shield 12 offers built-in traffic data collection and wireless connectivity. Collected data is wirelessly transferred for Web-based access. Access to the collected data can be granted to members of the community using a temporary password.

Software allows for reporting of collected data on speeds and vehicle volumes. Mapping is available to track where the sign is deployed. The sign itself can be programmed to offer various visual warnings based on speeds detected along with image capture. Data can also be collected without providing any visual warning. This capability may provide a more accurate picture of speed conditions on a given road.
