Ready to become a confident, responsible babysitter?
A great babysitter gives parents something important: peace of mind about the person caring for their children.

BLAST, Babysitter Lessons and Safety Training, prepares young people to take on the responsibility of caring for infants and children safely and confidently. This American Academy of Pediatrics course combines childcare basics with safety training, first aid and CPR.

Participants will learn:
• Basic infant and child care
• How to respond to medical emergencies
• First aid for common childhood injuries and illnesses
• CPR and AED skills
• Household safety and accident prevention
• How to choose age-appropriate games and activities
• How to prepare for babysitting jobs
• Tips for interviewing and getting started as a babysitter
• How to handle the responsibilities of caring for someone else's child

Participants receive a certificate of completion, first aid instructions, babysitter checklist and CPR certification.

For young people, BLAST offers a chance to develop practical skills, responsibility and confidence while preparing to earn money as a babysitter. For parents, hiring a babysitter who has completed formal safety, first aid and CPR training offers added reassurance.

About Our Instructor
The class is led by Juanita Allen Kingsley, owner of AllenKingsley - Lifelong Learning Essentials. Juanita holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University. She completed her EMT training at Northeastern University and earned her Wilderness EMT Certification through Mountain Aid Training International. Juanita teaches safety, first aid, CPR and preparedness courses throughout Massachusetts, helping children and young people develop practical skills, confidence and good judgment.

Location
The class takes place in the lower level of the DCH House, 671 High St, Dedham, MA. Please use the lower-level entrance located at the back of the main house.

Can't Make November 30?
Have a group of friends, classmates or neighbors interested in BLAST? Juanita is available to work with groups to schedule an additional class at DCH on another date and time.
