Dedham Chipotle Among 50 Mass. Locations Hit By Payment System Malware

The company says the malware searched for track data.

DEDHAM, MA — The Dedham Chipotle on Route 1 was affected by malware recently found on the company's network for its payment system.

The company says the malware searched for track data, which sometimes has cardholder name in addition to card number, expiration date, and internal verification code, read from the magnetic stripe of a payment card as it was being routed through the POS device. There is no indication that other customer information was affected, according to the Chipotle website.

The Dedham store was affected from March 25-April 18. The malware has since been removed.
