Dedham Civic Pride's Collection of Painted Flowerpots Grows
Two newly painted planters where placed at the entrance to Oakdale Square's Veterans Park
Recently Dedham Civic Pride commissioned local artist Cindy Prevett to paint to planter in a patriotic theme since the planters would sit at the entrance of Veterans Park in Oakdale Square. The red and white pots with an eagle profile were recently planted with fall chrysanthemums and will greet visitors to the park through the end of October.
Dedham Civic Pride, along with planting and maintaining green space, has sponsored several public art projects in recent years. About three years ago, Civic Pride did a painted utility box project, where three utility boxes were decorated with original artwork by local artists. Cindy did one of the utility boxes in the project which is located at the corner of Sawmill Lane and Milton Street; the box is covered with butterflies in bright lively colors. Cindy also did the painted piano in Dedham Square which was a project of the Dedham School of Music.
Along with the two eagle themed pots, Cindy designed and painted the two ladybug pots that are at the entrance to the Main Library on Church Street. Civic Pride will be commissioning Cindy to do two more planters that will sit in front of Barnes Memorial next spring.
