Dedham Coalition Announces Parenting And Prevention Mini-Webinars
Local parents and public health experts team up to offer accessible online learning opportunities to fit parents' busy schedules.
DEDHAM, MA — In acknowledgement of the challenging times parents find themselves in, the Dedham Organization for Substance Awareness is offering a series of three online parent education sessions on substance use prevention. Led by local experts and parents from Dedham, the brief web-based sessions will empower parents with science-based tips to raise healthy, resilient teens.
Sessions will take place at 8 PM on April 2, 9, and 16. Topics covered will include:
- The effects of substance use on the developing brain
- Factors that protect or put youth at risk for using substances
- Resources to support parents and youth who are struggling with substance misuse
- Dedham data on youth substance use and related parenting behaviors
- Strategies for talking to children and teens about substance use
- Approaches to reducing access to substances in the home
- Having challenging conversations with other parents
- Ways to get involved with DOSA prevention efforts
The webinars will be recorded live and will include time for attendees to ask questions and share resources. Our hope is to provide support and knowledge to parents during this time of stress.
