Dedham Coronavirus: New Procedures For Gun License Renewal
Applications will be taken via mail — no applications are being processed in person.
DEDHAM, MA — The Dedham Police Department decided to take gun license renewals totally by mail to try to stop the spread of the new coronavirus. Gun license renewal applications will only be taken by mail until further notice — no applications are being processed in person.
In addition to the mailing procedures, the department offered these tips:
- Applications sent via mail must include a complete and signed application, proof of residency (e.g., a copy of a real estate tax bill, utility bill, etc.)
- Payment of the license processing fee of $100 made payable to the Town of Dedham. Renewal applicants over 70 years of age are free
- Upon receipt of complete applications, the Dedham Police will mail you an official receipt. Complete applications received prior to the expiration date of your current license result in your current license remaining valid with the accompanying renewal application receipt until a decision is made to either approve or deny a renewal application
- Due to the requirement of process fingerprints in association with “new” applications, the Department will not be processing “new” applications at this time
