Superintendent Says Dedham High Students Received Clown Text Messages

Dedham Superintendent of Schools Michael Welch says that Dedham High School Students have received vague text messages about clowns.

DEDHAM, MA — The rise in suspicious clown activity and hoaxes has found its way to Dedham.

Dedham Superintendent of Schools Michael Welch told WBZ that Dedham High School students have received vague text messages about clowns from unknown phone numbers.

Welch encouraged parents to talk to their kids about the messages but added that police believe there is no credibility to the texts. The messages have been reported to the Dedham Police Department and are being investigated.

Massachusetts has not been spared from the rise in reported clown incidents. Monday night, a shelter in place was called and a dorm was evacuated at Merrimack College Monday night amidst reports of an armed clown on campus.
