Mass. Man Charged with Stabbing, Killing His Father

Police say Alex Anderson entered his father's room at 2 a.m. before stabbing, beating, and throwing him down the stairs of their home.

DEDHAM, MA — A 25-year-old man accused of killing his father in the Dedham home they shared was in court Tuesday.

Alex Anderson of Dedham was ordered held without bail during his arraignment in Dedham District Court. He pleaded not guilty to a first-degree murder charge for the killing of 59-year-old Paul Anderson in the unit block of Lower East Street.

Police responded a 911 call from the younger Anderson at approximately 2 a.m. and saw Paul Anderson suffering from "multiple traumatic injuries," according to a police report. Paul Anderson was transported to Norwood Hospital, where he died.

Alex Anderson was arrested and told police that he was aggravated with his dad when he entered his father's room at 2 a.m. He allegedly stabbed him in the cheek; struck him several times in the face, at one point using a hammer and putting his knee on his father's neck; and threw him down the stairs, the report said.

Alex Anderson's father took out a restraining order against him several years ago.

Alex Anderson is due back in court for a probable cause hearing on Nov. 28.
