Dedham Native Behind The Official Flag Day Parade Shirts

The Flag Day Parade takes place on June 17.

DEDHAM, MA — A local resident is supplying the official shirt for the Dedham Flag Day Parade as part of the annual event's fundraiser.

Caroline Metcalf-Vera, who has worked in the parks and recreation department, is selling the shirt to commemorate the parade's 50th anniversary, she said.

The local artist is Annabella Gullotti who currently attends Montserrat College of Art and graduated from Dedham High School in 2014, designed the shirt.

"To make the shirt I drew a rough sketch and scanned it into Photoshop and then added the color. My biggest inspiration is without a doubt the Cycling Murrays. They come out every year...without them, the flag day parade wouldn't be the same," Gullotti said.

The shirts run $20 each and can be purchased in person at Tedeschi's in Oakdale Square and at Ron's Gourmet Ice Cream in Dedham Square on online on Facebook. According to the Facebook page for the shirt, the blue classic shirt is almost sold out but the red classic and the "Cycling Murray" shirt that displays an interpretation of many people's favorite parade attraction are still available.
