3:27 a.m. - An officer on Pine Street observed a Volkswagen minivan parked adjacent to three donation bins at St. Susanna Church. The driver told police that he was donating children’s clothing on his way home from his girlfriend’s apartment. Police asked where she lived and the suspect said Main Street while pointing towards Needham. Police say his answers to simple questions were inconsistent. After he was sent on his way, the officer parked in a dark area about 50 feet away from the bins. At about 4:15 a.m., a person was seen emerging from one of the bins. As the officer informed dispatch, the man noticed the police cruiser and fled towards the woods near Pine Street. No charges were filed but the officer will be seeking a hearing.
