Dedham Police Log: U-Turn Crash, Library Alcohol, and More

January 10

4:02 p.m. - A vehicle traveling on Route 1 was struck by another vehicle attempting to make a U-turn near the intersection of Legacy Boulevard. The driver of the vehicle that made the U-turn was issued a citation.

6:04 p.m. - An officer responded to a report of a person who left alcohol out at a table at the Dedham Public Library. Staff said they knew the person was homeless and was fine with him being there as long as he didn’t bring in alcohol. The suspect said he didn’t realized that he left the bottle out. He was told he can return to the library, but can’t bring in alcohol.

January 12

2:56 a.m. - A driver on Route 1 rear-ended another vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that was struck was taken to the hospital and the driver of the first vehicle received a citation of following too closely.

12:04 p.m. - A driver that drove through a crosswalk on High Street while a pedestrian was trying to cross was issued a citation for a crosswalk violation.

8:00 p.m. - A person at Legacy Place was taken into protective custody
