Dedham Police Officer, Boston Marathon Bombing Hero Suddenly Dies

DEDHAM, MA — A member of the Dedham Police Department who was also a hero in the days after the Boston Marathon has passed away.

The Dedham Police Department announced Sunday morning that Officer Robert Chermesino has died. No cause of death was given.

Chermesino helped deliver blood to Mount Auburn Hospital after the Boston marathon bombings and assisted in saving Dic Donahue’s life, according to WHDH.

Chermesino served the Dedham Police Department for over six years.
