Dedham Police Warn About Snapchat Coronavirus Scam

A new scam is circulating on Snapchat soliciting donations for "coronavirus relief."

DEDHAM, MA — Dedham police are warning residents about a new scam circulating on the social media platform Snapchat. The scam solicits user to donate to a "coronavirus relief" fund. One resident in Dedham reported the scam to police.

The resident gave a donation through their debit card and a short time later, a large sum of money was withdrawn from their account, police said.

Police remind residents not to give out financial information to strangers and verify the legitimacy of any organization you donate to and protect your financial account and personal identifying information.
