Dedham Resident Joins YMCA of Greater Boston Team as New Executive Director Serving the Thomas M. Menino YMCA in Hyde Park
The YMCA of Greater Boston is pleased to announce the Thomas M. Menino YMCA's hire of a new executive director, Billy Alves.

DEDHAM, Mass. - The YMCA of Greater Boston is pleased to announce the Thomas M. Menino YMCA’s hire of a new executive director, William (Billy) Alves of Dedham, Massachusetts.
Alves will be moving from the Wang YMCA of Chinatown, where he has worked since 2013. He was initially hired as the Senior Health and Wellness Director in July of 2013, and was quickly promoted to Operations Director in April of 2014.
As Operations Director, Alves has been instrumental in shaping the organizational culture and team work at the Wang branch in Chinatown. Alongside Executive Director Patricia Barnwell, Alves has led the Wang YMCA to some of its most successful financial years. He says he is proud to work with a team of directors and coordinators who work so closely with one another and exemplify the YMCA core values: respect, responsibility, honesty and caring.

Before starting his career with the YMCA of Greater Boston, Alves held various leadership positions in the for-profit health and fitness industry. This included a job at one of the largest, publicly traded health club companies in the country.
Alves, 36 years old, is originally from Seekonk, Mass. He currently lives in Dedham, Mass. with his wife and three children. He says his ‘family man’ attitude is one of his biggest motivations for working at the Y. Alves is a graduate of Bridgewater State College.
