Off-Duty Dedham Firefighter Saves Route 128 Crash Victims

Dedham Firefighter Justin Callaghan was off-duty when he happened to drive by a three-car crash on Route 128.

DEDHAM, MA — A Dedham firefighter is receiving praise following his response to a crash while off-duty.

Early Thursday morning, Dedham Firefighter Justin Callaghan drove by a serious three-car crash on Route 128. Callaghan, who was off-duty at the time, was one the first to help at the scene simply because he was at the right place at the right time, according to WCVB.

Callaghan attempted to use a hatchet to break a car window. Emergency crews arrived soon afterwards and were able to get everyone out of the vehicles.

Everyone involved in the crash is expected to be alright. No word on the cause of the crash.
