Elderly Dedham Man Found Injured After Robbery Dies

The investigation is continuing with the possibility of new charges.

Dedham, MA - The 89-year-old Dedham man found injured following an alleged robbery of his home on May 27 has died.

Ignazio Chermesino, of Upland Road, hailed passers-by to contact Dedham police following a home robbery. He was transported and hospitalized following the incident. He passed away on June, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's office.

Thursday, Nicholas Durfee, 35, of Roslindale, was arraigned Thursday in Dedham District Court in connection to the break-in. He pleaded not guilty to unarmed assault to rob, assault and battery on a person over 60, and breaking and entering in the daytime to commit a felony.

The state medical examiner has accepted the case for an autopsy. The investigation is continuing with the possibility of adjustment to the charges, investigators said.
