Dedham Girls Softball Opening Night!

Come one, come all!!!.....IT’S TIME TO “PLAY BALL!!”…….This Friday, April 27, at Sullivan Field at Memorial Park Dedham Girls Softball will be hosting their Opening Night ceremonies after a great pre-season from the players, coaches, and our Dedham High Softball “Assistants”.  As part of the ceremonies there will be team photos, ceremonial first pitches, and the first games of the season in the 10U and 14U leagues.First Pitch Ceremonies this year are being honorable done by Ralph Wadman and his wife Diane. Diane and Ralph's commitment to DGS is unparalleled between their 3 daughters (Jen, Elizabeth, and Melissa) all playing as well as their continued involvement on the DGS Board even as the girls have grown older and "outgrown" DGS. Involved since the inception of DGS over a decade ago, Ralph and Diane have performed every conceivable role: parent, coach, umpire, Board member, equipment manager, fundraiser extraordinaire, chauffeur, Pumpkin Bowl "inventor", and fans. While Diane just stepped down from the Board after many years as Secretary and Treasurer she is still currently assisting at the 10U level, and Ralph ended his amazingly successful time as President by "retiring" to Treasurer and helping the transition by still helping out with 16U and assisting the new Board every way he can. DGS cannot think of a better way to start this season than having them help "start" us and with us saying THANKS!!!! Ceremonies/photos will start at 5:30 and the first pitches of the season will begin at 6:15. The first game of the night will pit Roche Brothers against Trethewey Brothers and that will be followed at 8 pm by the 14U’s Needham Bank squad taking on the Attorney Chris Cawley nine. The remainder of the Spring Season will be games on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays throughout the month of May and into the first couple of weeks of June.
