Five Finalists Selected For Dedham ECEC Principal Opening

Parents will have the chance to meet the finalists April 2 to 6

DEDHAM, MA — Five school administrators are in the running to become the next principal of the Dedham Early Childhood Education Center.

Superintendent announced the finalists Thursday in a letter to the community. The five were chosen from a field of 18 candidates. The finalists will each spend a day in Dedham meeting with teachers, parents, and students and visiting classroom.

Dr. Tamara Blake-Canty (April 2)

  • Principal of William E. Russell School in Boston
  • Formerly a middle school teacher in Boston
  • Holds a Ph.D in education from the University of Massachusetts, master's degree in education from Wheelock College, and a bachelor's degree from Emmanuel College

Allison Franke (April 3)

  • Assistant principal of the Capuano Early Childhood Center in Somerville
  • Formerly a literacy specialist at Franklin Elementary School in Newton and instructional specialist for English language arts in Marlborough.
  • Holds a master's degree in organizational management from Edicott College/EDCO Collaborative, a master's degree in language and literacy from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a bachelor's degree in computer science from Amherst College

Kristen St. George (April 4)

  • Interim principal of Hanscom Primary School at Hanscom Air Force Base in Lincoln
  • Former principal of W.L. Chenery Middle School in Belmont , East Middle School in Braintree, and John F. Kennedy Middle School in Natick
  • Holds a master's degree in educational leadership and management from Fitchburg State University, a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Massachusetts-Boston, and a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts-Boston

Susan Gleason (April 5)

  • Assistant principal of Sam Placentino Elementary School in Holliston
  • Formerly the director of curriculum, instruction, and professional development in Holbrook and elementary school teacher in Newton
  • Holds a certificate of advanced graduate studies from American International College, master's degree in human development and a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and human development from Wheelock College

Kimberly Taylor (April 6)

  • Principal of King Elementary School in Framingham
  • Formerly an assistant principal at Loring Elementary School in Sudbury, principal of Douglas Elementary School in Douglas, and principal of Charlottee Dunning Elementary School in Framingham.
  • She holds a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Boston College and a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Stonehill College
  • Formerly an adjuct faculty member for early childhood developement at Massachusetts Bay Community College and currently an extension course instructor, a collaboration between the Framingham Public Schools and Framingham State University.
