Heirloom Kitchen to Launch Culinary Classes in Dedham
The Dedham-based restaurant will host the "Cooking for Real Families" course on March 1.
Families in and around the Dedham area are being invited to a special event of culinary lessons in early March.
Dedham-based Heirloom Kitchen will be hosting a new "Cooking for Real Families" culinary class series starting Saturday, March 1 from 7-9 p.m.
Executive Chef Ed Hoffey will work with a small group of home cooks for the first class in the series, which is meant to provide a hands-on experience, teaching students how to prepare a pasta feast including a salad with fresh vinaigrette, hand-rolled pastas and three sauces, all made from scratch.

The class costs $55 per person and will include recipes, tips and tastes to take home.

As part of the class, student chefs will learn how to:
- Use local greens and vegetables to assemble the perfect Simple Greens salad with a fresh lemon herb vinaigrette
- Learn to mix, roll, and cut Pastas like papparedelle and tagliatelle by hand and get pointers on eggless and gluten-free modifications that make it easy to accommodate dietary restrictions at home
- Cook up Heirloom Kitchen’s signature scratch-made sauces: a veggie-rich take on the classic Pomodoro; Pistou, a herbaceous Provençal sauce that is a nut-free alternative to pesto; and Creamy Parmesan sauce with comfort-food appeal for kids of all ages.
