Keldara Raises $7K for Fallen Boston Firefighters
The Dedham hair salon booked more than 100 appointments for the cause.
Keldara Salon and Spa in Dedham raised about $7,000 over the weekend for the families of two Boston firefighters who died in the line of duty in March.
The salon booked more than 100 appointments for a "Cut-A-Thon" held on Sunday, May 4. All haircuts at the fundraiser were $25 and proceeds went to the Lt. Walsh-Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund in honor of Boston Fire Lt. Ed Walsh and Firefighter Michael Kennedy, who died in the line of duty while battling a nine-alarm fire in Back Bay on Wednesday, March 26.
Several firefighters also worked a raffle table and collected donations at the event.

"I am blown away by the turnout and can't thank everyone at Keldara enough for helping me put this together," Kariana Massarelli, a stylist at the salon, said. "I'm married to a Boston fireman, who is stationed at Ladder 26 on Huntington Avenue. It really had an impact on the whole city and I wanted to support the families of the fallen."
