- Social Security Benefits Seminar - March 7 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm; Main Library, 43 Church St., Dedham, MA 02026. The Social Security Benefits course is offered by the American Financial Education Alliance, a not-for-profit organization providing adult education courses on various financial topics. This course offers information for people nearing retirement age and interested in specific information on Social Security claiming options and when to file for benefits. Social Security represents the foundation of retirement income, and properly coordinating it with other income and asset sources is critical to establishing a retirement cash flow that is sufficient to last throughout one’s retirement years. We will review the recent changes to Social Security that were signed into law this past November 2nd as part of the Bi-Partisan Budget Act of 2015. This law made sweeping changes to claiming options and strategies that should be understood before filing for benefits.
