The Boston Globe says “Matt York knows what rock 'n' roll is supposed to sound like and do: Make you bob your head and pound your fist and forget about everything but the riff, your beer and your bruised heart". He is currently recording a new album called Boston, Texas that will be released in 2016.
Matt grew up in Foxboro catching virtually every concert held there. As a teenager, Matt played shows with Boston Rock Legend Rick Berlin on the stages of Bunratty's, Boston Cyclorama and many others. At 17, he sang and played guitar for the band De'Cor that recorded a four-song EP and played The Channel, The Rat, T.T. the Bears and several other stages.
In 1996, at the age of 24, Matt started the band Wide Iris along with bass player Jef Corbin and drummer Matt "Drummer Boy" Masson. The band quickly began headlining shows throughout New England, playing hundreds of places including NYC's CBGB and virtually every stage that would have them in New England. They released four CDs and received airplay on all the major rock stations in New England as well as college radio stations throughout the country. They played in-studio performances in WAAF, WBCN, WFNX and several college stations. In 1997, they were the first local band featured on boson.com.They were also featured on soundtracks from as faraway as New Zealand and Australia. The band competed in the 2000 WBCN Rock n Roll Rumble. Wide Iris was often linked with their friends the garage dogs during the 1996-2000 timeframe playing a ton of great shows with them during that time.
"Carlin Tripp is an American Songwriter drawing from a life spent roaming this great country, seeking out rare experiences and making new friends along the way. His songs reflect on love lost, love found, and the trials and joys we all face in our day to day existence. We are all searching for an answer in our own unique way, and it seems Carlin's music longs to provide us with a brief insight to the inner workings of the human spirit."
