Ferguson will be featured as part of the July Artist of the Month Series.

The Dedham Square Artist Guild is pleased to feature photographer Gretje Ferguson as part of their July Artist of the Month Series. On display will be her photographs in an exhibit entitled “Animals with Attitude.”

Ferguson is primarily know as a “people photographer,” but has gradually morphed into a “more of the world around me” approach.

A reception will be held on Saturday, July 18, offering many the chance to see her work, which will showcase animals from New England, New Zealand and Florida.

Her photography is already well known across the New England area. She’s previously photographed cancer survivors, which now hang on the Wall of Hope at Massachusetts General Hospital. Ferguson’s work has been published in more than 50 international magazines.

“When I pick up a camera, ordinary objects become extraordinary. Nothing escapes my lens, whether it’s a fur seal in New Zealand, a blooming amaryllis, or a shower curtain at my daughter’s home. In my recent personal work, I seek to document my surroundings in new and surprising ways. These are the images I am sharing at the Dedham Square Artists Guild,” Ferguson said.
