RED CARPET GALA TO HONOR LONG-SERVING VOLUNTEERS
In appreciation of two long-time volunteers, the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Mary’s in Dedham will host its Inaugural Red Carpet Gala volunteer appreciation event on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 7 pm to 11 pm at the Dedham Community House.
Without committed volunteers, the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Mary’s parish could not complete its mission to provide needed support on an urgent basis when there is no food for a family and children need to be fed, or a utility is about to be shut off. This Red Carpet Gala will honor Tim Kelleher and his wife Kay who have volunteered for nearly 55 years in ministering to the needy in Dedham, providing food, clothing, home furnishings, baby necessities, and help with bills to individuals and families in need.

Lewis Uttaro, current President of the Society’s St. mary’s Conference, said “As I began to make client calls with Tim, it became abundantly clear how popular he is to those in the community and in our parish. Virtually everyone knows him. Observing Tim interview our clients with genuine and heartfelt concern for their situation inspires the other members on our conference board.”
Tim’s volunteer activities are expansive. He was involved in the founding of the Dedham Food Pantry where he continues to be active along with his on-going volunteer activities with Dedham’s meals on Wheels Program. Both Tim and Kay continue to serve all our Dedham residents and are generous with their time and talents. Neither Tim nor Kay seeks recognition for their efforts, but they are delighted that the Red Carpet Gala will raise much needed funds for the needy.

About the St. Vincent de Paul Society
The St. Vincent de Paul Society, an international organization under the auspices of the Catholic Church, quietly ministers to the needy, providing food, clothing, home furnishings, baby items, and other necessities to individuals and families when assistance from social service agencies is inadequate or unavailable. Usually the need for support is urgent. Conference members understand that urgent situations can happen to anyone. All it takes is a loss of one’s job, a sudden or long-term illness, the death of a wage-earner.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society Conference at St. Mary’s Parish was established in 1929 and since that time has operated continuously to help all Dedham residents who seek support. Members of the Conference are volunteers who believe that the people served reflect the face of Christ. The Conference Group raises the funds needed for their work through donations from parish members who desire to help all our Dedham neighbors in need.
The Red Carpet Gala is set for Friday, November 20, 2015 from 7 pm to 11 pm at the Dedham community House and features live music, dancing, raffles and a silent auction. Hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be provided by Distinctive Catering of Dedham. Ticket Donation: $40.00 per person. Funds support the efforts of St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Mary’s, Dedham. TICKETS are available at the St. mary’s Parish Center or by email: stvdpdedham@hotmail.com .
In the spirit of supporting those less fortunate and as with the Holiday Season approaching, Tim and Kay Kelleher look forward to seeing many at this Gala fundraiser and celebration. And in this spirt, guests are encouraged to be thrifty in selecting their party attire by selecting items from their closet or a friend’s closet or purchasing items from a thrift store.
