Registration for Dedham Trails 5K Race and Sprint and Splash Open
Race and Family Fun Festival coming up August 4, 2019 at the Dolan Center
Calling all runners and paddlers!! Registration for the Dedham Trails 5K Race and Sprint and Splash is now open. The race is just two weeks away: Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 10:00 am.
The race begins at New Bridge on the Charles, winds through Whitcomb Woods and ends at the Dolan Center. Those who are doing the Sprint and Splash will continue to the river’s edge to jump into their kayaks for a one-mile paddle on the Dedham Water Trail. The registration fee is $25 with a portion of the race entries going to Dedham Civic Pride. Dedham Civic Pride is celebrating their 25th anniversary and still working diligently making the town look its best. To register for the race visit www.active.com.
The Family Fun Festival will be running in conjunction with the races. The festival will be at the Dolan Center from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A variety of organizations and vendors will be there. Dedham School of Music will be providing the musical entertainment; Pirates Lemonade will have their tasty and refreshing Lemonade stand set up; Friends of the Dedham Public Library will be giving away a beautiful hardcovered book to the first 80 people who stop by their table. After bouncing in the bouncy house, children can have their faces painted, climb into the Fallon Ambulance, Dedham Police cruiser, and Dedham Fire Truck. Families can stop by City Compost tent to learn about composting; learn about flowers at the Endicott Greenhouse table; pick up the scavenger hunt sheet at Dedham Civic Pride’s table where kids will get a scavenger hunt patch when the hunt is completed.
Along with all these, you can talk with people from the Dedham Westwood Water District, Dedham Sustainability Advisory Committee, Dedham Conservation Commission, Mother Brook Community Group, NEC Solar and more.
