Selectmen Hand Liquor License Suspensions to Two Businesses

DEDHAM, MA — Two businesses that were recently in front of the selectmen for liquor licenses violations will serve suspensions later this year.

The Dedham Board of Selectmen voted Thursday night to suspend Moseley's on the Charles' liquor license for three days for two violations. Four additional days will be held in advance for 24 months. The board voted to have the establishment serve the suspension from Feb. 17-19.

In their ruling, the board determined that in both, the March 25 and Oct. 1 incidents, Moseley's staff over-served patrons and permitted disorder and an illegality on premise, and permitted a disturbance. The Oct. 1 incident was notable due to a post-event shooting that happened in a nearby parking lot.

Selectmen Chairman Dennis Guilfoyle said there would be no sanctions on the hours of operation because owner Edward DeVincenzo presented a plan of action in November that included rolling back his hours to 12:30 a.m.

"We’re not going to put that into the sanctions because you came in front of us with your operation and we took that into consideration. What we would ask is for you to come back in three months to tell us how the 12:30 a.m. closing and the parking lot is working,” Guilfoyle said.

Terri’s Market, located on Louise Road, will serve a five-day suspension and seven days held in advance for 24 months. The vote comes following the board’s determination that the store allowed for the sale of alcohol to an underage buyer who presented a fake ID.

The suspension includes two days that were held in advance from another violation. This is Terri’s third violation, with the other two coming in 2013 and 2015.

Terri's will serve their suspension from March 8-12.
