Suspect in High-Speed Chase Through Dedham Indicted
Michael Leblanc, 28, was indicted on nearly two dozen charges stemming from the chase that went through multiple towns including Dedham.

DEDHAM, MA — An Abington man charged with dragging a police officer and leading a chase from Walpole to the West Roxbury-Dedham town line was recently indicted.
Michael Leblanc, 28, was indicted on nearly two dozen charges stemming from the chase that went through Walpole, Norwood, Dedham, and Needham and last appeared in court for a dangerousness hearing on Aug. 5. No decisions were made and Leblanc remains in jail without bail, according to Wicked Local. Leblanc pleaded not guilty to all 22 charges, which include three counts of armed assault to murder, count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, operating under the influence of drugs, and leaving the scene of property damage.
During an April incident, Leblanc was approached Officer Matt Crown while in his vehicle near the Walpole Country Club. During the stop, Leblanc allegedly drove away, dragging Crown for nearly 300 feet at speeds of up to 30 mph. Crown was able to free himself and engaged in the pursuit, according to Walpole Police Chief Chief John Carmichael.

The chase allegedly continued through Norwood, Westwood, Dedham, Needham, and West Roxbury. Leblanc fled his car after it caught on fire near the Party City on the West Roxbury-Dedham town line. A short time later, he was taken into custody at a nearby apartment building and booked at the Walpole Police Department.
Leblanc is due back in court on Sept. 23.
