Two Arrested In Dedham Armed Robbery Case

A woman on Colburn Street told police that a man she did not know stole her cell phone and showed what she thought was a gun.

DEDHAM, MA — Two people were arrested following a reported armed robbery on Colburn Street.

At about 7:03 p.m. on Feb. 15, a woman on the street told police that a man she did not know stole her cell phone and showed what she thought was a gun, according to a police report included with the Dedham Police Log. Officer David Connolly wrote in his report that he found a person on Curve Street that fit the description of the suspect. When he asked to speak to the suspect, the man walked away. When Connolly stopped him and explained why he wanted to talk, the suspect allegedly struck the officer with a closed fist.

Connolly made an attempt to place him under arrest while the man made several attempts to strike the officer. The officer was able to pin the suspect to the ground and place him under arrest, with assistance from another officer.

The suspect was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

The victim also told police that the suspect ran towards a house on Denmark Street with a man she thought was communicating with the alleged robber. A second person was arrested and charged with armed robbery after police found him to be in possession of the suspect’s iPhone.

The names of the two people arrested were not released and were redacted in the police log.
